David Buchanan encouraged by outing against Nationals

WASHINGTON - Much of David Buchanan's success is predicated on his keeping his pitches down and on either corner of the strike zone. The Phillies' No. 3 starter accomplished that a more efficient rate than his previous two outings Sunday in a 4-1 loss to the Washington Nationals.

A start to build off, Buchanan said.

"I felt like I was working down better," the 25-year-old righthander said. "There's still a lot of things to improve on, but I wasn't going to get caught up in the past. The past is the past. I've just got to keep looking forward and keep getting better for my next start.
