PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Trailing the Giants 4-0 in the top of the seventh inning with two outs of Sunday’s series finale, Phillies veteran first baseman Ryan Howard hit a rather towering routine pop-up toward shortstop Brandon Crawford.
Usually, that ball is caught, but yesterday it wasn’t. Maikel Franco, who lazily jogged from first base on the hit, luckily scored, while Howard only made it to first base.
“I think he [Howard] could have walked to second base,” said Phillies radio analyst Larry Andersen after the play.
Former Phillies catcher Darren Daulton, says he would have had some words for Howard.
