Competitive fires burn in Phils' top prospect

J.P. Crawford hates to lose.

"At everything," the Phillies' top prospect said bluntly.

He and his older sister, Eliza, used to race to the dinner table of their Southern California home. Then they would compete to finish their meal first. His video games - especially Call of Duty - against friends become so heated during the offseason that his father, Larry, leaves the room.

Crawford's competitive spirit - rooted in his parents' athletic backgrounds - has fueled his drive to be one of baseball's best prospects. Baseball America has the shortstop as the fifth-ranked prospect in baseball.
