Cole Hamels Foundation Donates Another $53,000 To Schools in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Eight Philadelphia schools are recipients of the latest round of grants from the Hamels Foundation.

Webster Elementary School, in Kensington, is using its $15,000 grant from the Hamels Foundation to buy a new math curriculum, says principal Shawn Wright.

“We haven’t had a consistent curriculum schoolwide for several years,” he noted today.

Eight local schools are receiving a total of $53,000 this year from the foundation set up by Philadelphia Phillies’ lefthander Cole Hamels and his wife, Heidi.

Cole Hamels — at the center of a swirl of trade rumors — says the foundation will continue to benefit Philadelphia even if he’s wearing another uniform on August 1st.
