Clay Buchholz has surgery, Zach Eflin recalled

In news that should surprise no one at all, Clay Buchholz went under the knife today to repair a torn flexor tendon. Dr. James Andrews did the honors.

RHP Clay Buchholz had surgery today with Dr. James Andrews to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right forearm. Recovery is 4-6 months.

We’ve been expecting this news since last week when Clay Buchholz called out the trainer in his second start for the Phillies. With a recovery time of 4-6 months, this is essentially a season-ending injury for Buchholz.
