MILWAUKEE - The phrase of the afternoon from Phillies skipper Pete Mackanin was "day-to-day."

He used it five times in the less than five minutes he spent talking with reporters before Friday night's series opener against the Brewers.

He first used it when talking about the status of third baseman Maikel Franco, who remains - you guessed it - day-to-day while recovering from a bruised left wrist after being hit with a pitch Tuesday night in the first inning in Arizona.

Franco had been wearing a splint the last few days and tested his wrist before last night's game.
