Chase Utley's first rehabilitation assignment a successful one for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs

Chase Utley's first at-bat Sunday looked like the initial one of a rehab assignment.

His next three plate appearances, however, were solid for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday afternoon.

Utley singled twice and walked in four at-bats during the IronPigs' 4-0 loss to the Norfolk Tides in front of 8,725 fans at Coca-Cola Park.

"I tried to create some timing," Utley said. "Sometimes I did, so there was progress, which is good."

Utley hasn't played for the Phillies since June 22 because of right ankle inflammation that dates back to January. His rehab assignment continues Tuesday and Wednesday in Reading with the Double-A Fightins.
