A skinny 24-year old was announced as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the second inning for starting pitcher Joe Roa in a 9-1 blowout loss to the Pirates. As Dan Baker announced the name of Chase Utley to the crowd at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia that Friday evening, a new era of Phillies baseball began.
