PHILADELPHIA — For the most part, Chad Billingsley looked, and felt, much better in his second major league outing in two years than in his first start last week. It just seemed like he ran out of gas.
The right-hander cruised through the first three innings, throwing a total of 28 pitches — just eight in both the first and third — before throwing 33 pitches in the fifth and getting hit hard.
He exited without recording an out in the sixth, getting charged with five runs and giving up eight hits as the New York Mets took the series finale with a 7-4 win over the Phillies on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park.
