In the first two games of their series against the Atlanta Braves, the Phillies fell behind early. On Thursday, they were able to come back and win, but on Friday, the hole was too deep to overcome. On Saturday, they had Zack Wheeler on the mound, and therefore there was no early deficit. Wheeler pitched seven shutout innings, carrying the Phillies to a 3-0-victory, and earning the pitcher his 100th career win.
Wheeler was strong from the beginning. He retired the side in order the first two innings, and while the Braves would get a baserunner or two the rest of the way, they never seemed to threaten Wheeler too seriously.
