Chicago Cubs Record 79-76 (.510) Second place in the NL Central (9.5 GB)
Philadelphia Phillies Record 92-63 (.594) First place in NL East
It was early July when the Phillies last played the Cubs. The Phillies rolled into Wrigley Field and the Cubs were mired in a spiral that landed them in the basement of the NL Central. Only a few weeks before they sat in second place and appeared to be poised for a Wild Card fight.
By the time the Phillies packed up and moved on from Chicago’s Northside they left the Cubs with two more in the loss column.
