Fresh off of inking an extension that guarantees him security (and money!) for the next four years, Cristopher Sanchez demonstrated why the team believes he’ll continue his ascent. Taking on the Diamondbacks at a strange hour of the day, Sanchez held the offense of Arizona in check by placing most of his pitches below the belt, not allowing them to barrel the ball and letting his own offense time to get a lead comfortable for all involved.
The first inning and a half was uneventful for both teams, both Sanchez and Arizona starter Slade Cecconi pitching well to begin their days.
