A night after he was revealed as a finalist for the National League MVP Award, Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper was named the winner of the senior circuit’s Hank Aaron Award.
Named in the honor of one of the greatest hitters in MLB history, the award is “awarded annually to the best overall offensive performer in each league.”
In 2021, Harper slashed .309/.429/.615 with 35 home runs, 84 RBIs, 100 walks and a league-leading 1.044 OPS.
Harper edged out Fernando Tatis Jr., Freddie Freeman, Paul Goldschmidt, Juan Soto and Brandon Crawford to capture the coveted honor.
