One of the most famous storylines in comic book history was The Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen. To briefly recap the story: A seemingly unstoppable alien monster named Doomsday arrives on Earth, and Superman finally stops him, but at the apparent cost of his own life. Shortly after, four new “Supermen” arrive on the scene, and there is much debate if any, all, or none of them are the real Superman come back to life. One of them, a cyborg, becomes accepted by the United States government as the real deal, which turned out to be a very bad decision by them.
