Dallas Green, manager of the 1980 world champion Phillies, has died at age 82.

Green played for the Phillies from 1960-64, then became the Phils’ skipper in 1979. As manager, the Phils won their first World Series.

The Cubs hired Green to be their executive vice president and general manager in 1981, and turned that franchise into a contender by 1984. Later, he managed the Yankees in 1989, and the Mets, from 1993-96.

Green was most recently a senior advisor to the general manager with the Phillies.
