The Atlanta Braves swept the Philadelphia Phillies in a four-game series this past weekend at Sun Trust Park in Atlanta. In doing so, the Braves clinched their first National League East Division crown in five years.
Since June 20, either the Phillies or Braves have held the first or second place slots in the division. The Phillies took over the division lead for the first time on July 6, remaining in that top spot for more than a month before finally yielding to the Braves on August 14.
In the end, that the Braves first overcame and then pulled away from the Phillies should not have been much of a shock.
