Biddle hits a rough patch at Reading

READING - Jesse Biddle handed the ball to his manager Tuesday night and walked off the mound. His worst start of the season was complete. For the third straight outing, Biddle's performance had worsened. The lefthander allowed five runs on 10 hits in four-plus innings. His mettle is being tested.

"I think everything is a test," Biddle said. "There's no such thing as a bad outing as long as you learn from it."

Biddle, 23, said this stretch has been "really frustrating" because his breaking pitches have been effective. He ran into trouble with his fastball Tuesday.
