It’s generally not a good thing when a team’s leadoff and three-hole hitters are both slumping. Given the struggles of Andrew McCutchen and Bryce Harper over the past month, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Phillies’ lineup hasn’t produced up to its capabilities. Therefore, it was very nice to see both men drive in two runs on Friday night, leading the Phillies to a 5-4 win over the Rockies.
Cutch and Harper weren’t the only heroes on Friday night. Cole Irvin made his second career start and earned his second career win.
