As is tradition, feelings towards the Phillies front office has swung wildly this year. Optimism was running high after an offseason jam-packed with acquisitions highlighted by the signing of Bryce Harper. However, with playoff odds looking slim, that optimism has vanished.
Numerous things could be blamed for how this season has transpired. Injuries are a significant factor, but they aren’t the only reason things have gone poorly. The finger could also be pointed at manager Gabe Kapler or the front office depending on your predispositions towards the two.
If owner John Middleton feels like the front office is to blame, he now has a golden opportunity to change the staff with a proven winner.
