Andy MacPhail officially takes Phillies reigns; Pat Gillick stays

When the Phillies announced that Andy MacPhail would be taking on the role of Phillies president, the move was to be at the end of the season. Despite this, it was MacPhail making certain decisions, such as the firing of general manager Ed Wade. Finally, MacPhail will officially assume his new role with the Phillies.

Phillies part-owner John Middleton continued to be the face of ownership, releasing the following statement, via Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News:
