Longtime MLB executive Andy MacPhail was introduced as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies‘ leadership at a Monday. MacPhail is set to replace president Pat Gillick at the end of the 2015 season. Although MacPhail will begin working immediately as a special assistant to Gillick.
Gillick stepped down as general manager after the 2008 season and served as an adviser before replacing David Montgomery as president in August 2014. The Hall of Fame executive is likely to remain in the front office in a lesser role. Gillick helped appoint current general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.
