Aaron Nola makes costly mistake as Phillies lose again

ST. LOUIS - These days, inside the Phillies clubhouse, it is harder to see the larger picture. They have played 61 games and lost 40 of them. The front office that assembled this team knew it would lose, but the humans on the field and in the dugout are vulnerable.

Shortstop Freddy Galvis, still in his full uniform, stewed at his locker for more than 15 minutes after Saturday's loss. The losing formula repeated Sunday. The manager, Pete Mackanin, agonized over one pitch after a 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

One pitch in the scheme of this rebuilding process is meaningless.
