For the professional athlete, the human body is an asset and an enemy. It provides the raw talent as they develop their skills on their path to the big time. But to reach that truly elite level, it requires constant upkeep. Every lunge, leap, or stretch, could cause the break, strain, or tear that derails or even ends their careers.
Why they don't succumb to a life of Netflix and intramural softball is beyond me.
But some people just have to flaunt their abilities in front of everyone, I guess, and other people just have to look at and write about them when they do it.
