I’ll say this for Dave Dombrowski. He must be a pretty good poker player.
The Phillies team president in charge of baseball operations didn’t give away much when he and manager Rob Thomson addressed reporters on Tuesday in the wake of their early-than-expected departure from the playoffs. Light on details, Dombrowski indicated he believes the talent exists on this roster to make continued deep postseason runs as currently constructed, but left open the possibility for changes this winter.
In short, he held his cards close to the vest.
Fans won’t get any satisfaction from DD’s answers, but there were some takeaways to be gleaned following his time with the press.
