As the Philadelphia Phillies wrap up their 28-game Grapefruit League schedule, manager Joe Girardi and company currently have a complicated situation as it relates to the team’s currently full 40-man roster.
At least two non-roster invitees have been told they will make the team’s Opening Day roster — both former Miami Marlins in outfielder Matt Joyce and right-handed reliever Brandon Kintzler. Joyce has posted the sixth-highest OPS on the team, slugging eight singles, one home run, four RBI, six walks and just four strikeouts across 28 at-bats.
