Three players that the Philadelphia Phillies hope will be part of the team’s attempt to return to the postseason for the first time since 2011 will begin rehab appearances Tuesday evening.
Freddy Galvis will lead off and play shortstop for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs tonight. Galvis was reacquired ahead of the July 30 trade deadline from the Baltimore Orioles. The veteran infielder — who is slashing .246/.306/.414 in 249 at-bats in 2021 — is returning from a right quad strain that he suffered in late June while still playing for the Orioles.
Galvis will be joined at Lehigh Valley by reliever Sam Coonrod, who hasn’t pitched at the major league level since June 23.
