When the Phillies opened camp in 2022, reliever Andrew Bellatti was considered a longshot to make the roster. He was a 30-year-old with just 20 career appearances to his name. But he was impressive in Spring Training, earning him a callup to the major leagues in mid-April. There were some shaky moments at the start, but by the end of the season, he was a viable middle reliever.
He was expected to serve in a similar role in 2023, but injuries and ineffectiveness kept him from making much of a positive impact.
2023 stats: 27 games, 24.
