We're less than three weeks away from the 2015 MLB trade deadline, which means there are plenty of rumors swirling around the Philadelphia Phillies and what they might do on the trade market. Here are three deals they could make at the deadline:
Trade Cole Hamels to the Yankees for C Gary Sanchez, prospects
Hamels has been on the trade block for over a year now, and it seems inevitable that the Phillies will trade him. They're looking to get some young prospects in return to help speed up their rebuilding process, and the Yankees have a plethora of guys for Philly to choose from.
Trade Jonathan Papelbon to the Red Sox for prospects
Papelbon has remained adamant about his desire to be traded, and has also consistently reiterated his love for the Red Sox. Boston needs help on the back end of their bullpen, and the Phillies would be happy to unload this headache on the Red Sox for a couple of young prospects.
Trade Chase Utley to Yankees for 2B Rob Refsnyder, C Gary Sanchez
Utley is also surprsingly on the way out, and is looking to go to a contender. New York could use another veteran presence in their infield, and Refsnyder and Sanchez are two guys that can play right away for the Phillies. Utley has seen his trade value drop lately, but this would still be a good return for Philadelphia.
