Coming off a disastrous 1-4-1 road trip, the Philadelphia Flyers returned home to the friendly confines of the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night for a Metropolitan division matchup with the Eastern Conference-leading Washington Capitals in what I’m calling the most important game of the season.
After looking downright horrible at points while Disney on Ice was in town, the orange and black turned in one of their best performances of the season, defeating the Caps 3-2 in regulation. The pair of points brought Philly within five points of the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders, who currently hold the third and second spots in the divisional standings, respectively.
