The Philadelphia Flyers kicked off the week by facing the Pittsburgh Penguins and needed their defense to bounce back after a poor performance against the New York Islanders.
And, uh, they went ahead and did the opposite. The Flyers were blown out by their in-state rival 7-1 in a game we should never, ever talk about again.
Following back-to-back disappointing efforts defensively, the question had to be asked: What the heck has happened to Philadelphia in their own zone?
It was clear that General Manager Chuck Fletcher had seen enough and called up German Rubtsov, Carsen Twarynski, and Philippe Myers to help revitalize the team.
