ARLINGTON, VA -- Washington Capitals forwards Mike Richards and Justin Williams, who both began their career with the Flyers, showed deep admiration for their first NHL owner Ed Snider, who passed away on Monday after a long battle with bladder cancer.
“You can’t help but feel something for a guy who has done so much and was just really a good man,” Richards said. “You could tell he cared about all his players, about the organization.”
The care that Snider had for his players was evident when Williams was traded to Carolina in January of 2004.
“He called me up to say ‘thank you’ and wished me luck and that just doesn’t happen,” Williams said.
