Travis Sanheim is skating more than anyone in the NHL

Travis Sanheim has been a workhorse this season for the Philadelphia Flyers.

The veteran defenseman played over half of the game in Monday night’s loss to the Colorado Avalanche with a career-high 31:07 time on ice in a regulation game. He’s now averaging 25:35 per game, which ranks third in the entire NHL.

Sanheim has been tasked with playing more than normal recently due to injuries on the Flyers’ blue line. He’s gone over 30 minutes in three games this season — all coming in the past 10 days — but those first two (30:19 in Florida and 30:23 against San Jose) included some overtime action.
