Playing in their final game of a five game road trip, the Philadelphia Flyers were looking to salvage a win to break a three game losing skid against the Vancouver Canucks.
Anthony Stolarz received his third straight start in-net from Head Coach Dave Hakstol. He opposed Jacob Markstrom against Vancouver who had an 11-9-3 record, a 3.14 Goals-Against Average, and a .901 save percentage. Hakstol also interestingly inserted Jori Lehtera and Jordan Weal in the lineup for Oskar Lindblom and Phil Varone. This seemed like a “going for broke” type move to me, with the coach using a last resort move to try and inject energy into the team.
