For only the sixth time in 2017, Flyers defenseman Nick Schultz will be on the ice in tonight’s game at the Wells Fargo Center against the Florida Panthers.
With Brandon Manning serving the second of his two-game suspension for his late hit against Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel on Saturday and with the trade on Wednesday of Mark Streit (first to Tampa Bay and then to Pittsburgh), the Flyers have a need for a defenseman.
Schultz last played on Feb. 6 in a 2-0 home loss to the St. Louis Blues.
“It is not an easy task to be in and out of the lineup all year and out of the lineup for an extended period of time,” Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said after Thursday's morning skate.
