Getting his first action of the preseason, Philadelphia Flyers goalie Sam Ersson didn’t show any signs of rust.
The Flyers defeated the visiting New York Islanders by a score of 2-0 at Wells Fargo Center Thursday night. And along with Russian prodigy Matvei Michkov, who recorded an assist and an empty-net goal in his home debut, Ersson deservedly got a fair amount of praise after the final horn.
He was busy throughout the tilt, stopping all 37 Islanders shots en route to his first shutout — albeit a preseason shutout — since April. He was tested from the jump, facing 15 shots in the first period alone.
