Former Flyers captain Mike Richards, whose contract has been terminated by the Los Angeles Kings, is being investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for an off-ice indicent, ESPN.com reports.
The Kings terminated Richards' 12-year contract, which had five remaining years, on Monday. ESPN was told by a spokesperson from the Mounted Police that no files have been charged against Richards, the report said.
It was not clear how Richards violated his contract, but the team said in a statement that the termination was for "a material breach of the requirements of his Standard Player's Contract," ESPN reported.
