The Flyers completed one of the last items on their offseason to-do list today, signing Brandon Manning to a 2-year deal. The deal will pay Manning $975,000 each season.
Manning was scheduled to have a salary arbitration hearing, but as with Weal and Schenn, a deal was reached before the hearing took place. Manning was paid $625,000 last season, and turned down the Flyers qualifying offer that would’ve been a mere 10% raise.
With the deal, the Flyers have no more free agents to re-sign. Furthermore, virtually all of their cap space is spoken for, and the Flyers have 7 NHL defensemen under contract without counting NHL hopeful Ivan Provorov.
