Philadelphia Flyers forward Chris VandeVelde came to the team as an extremely minor unrestricted free agent signing. Signed in the summer of 2013, VandeVelde had 28 NHL games and 3 points to his name.
Since then, VandeVelde has played his way into being a regular in the Flyers lineup. This season, he ultimately found a regular role as a penalty killer and 4th liner with Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Ryan White. This line got quite a bit of love down the stretch and into the first round of the playoffs, but perspective must be maintained on the sum of what this line brings, and how their possession and production ultimately shook out.
