The Philadelphia Flyers announced Monday morning that they have recalled goaltender Alex Lyon from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms while also placing Michal Neuvirth on injured reserve.
General manager Ron Hextall doesn’t expect Neuvirth to be out for very long, stating he thinks the often-injured net-minder will return in about four days. Fellow goalie Brian Elliott took a hit from forward Travis Konecny during practice on Sunday, so Lyon being called-up could be more about Elliott not being 100% rather than Neuvirth’s possible short-term injured reserve stint.
