The Lehigh Valley Phantoms were in need of a backup goaltender with Anthony Stolarz sidelined for the next three to four months with a lower body injury.
Carter Hart is regarded as a top NHL goaltending prospect and was the first goalie selected in last summer’s Entry Draft (48th overall), following a season that saw him win CHL goaltender of the year honors.
Hart appeared in 54 regular season games posting a 1.99 GAA and .927 SV% both stats led the WHL.
He became available when the Everett Silvertips were eliminated from the WHL playoffs by the Kelowna Rockets in four straight.
