Tim Panaccio is reporting that agent Don Meehan has filed for arbitration on behalf of Brayden Schenn. Just yesterday we wrote at length about how signing Schenn must be the Philadelphia Flyers top priority, but valuing the player is a little tricky.
Notably, last season the Flyers and GM Ron Hextall declined to sign Schenn long term despite doing so for Sean Couturier. Many seemed to presume that Schenn would finally get his long term deal this summer after his red hot second half.
Instead Schenn, a restricted free agent, has exercised his right to take his contract negotiations to an independent arbitrator.
