The game started off well with the Philadelphia Flyers scoring a power play goal and finally breaking their 0-14 stretch that carried over four games. Wayne Simmonds deflected in his team leading 28th goal. The Flyers were unable to score on either of their remaining power plays going 1/3 tonight.
Toronto went on to score three unanswered goals over the second period and in the beginning of the third period, before Shayne Gostisbehere gave the Flyers a glimmer of hope, hammering a one-timer with 2:28 left in the game. The Flyers continued pressing nearly finding a tying goal before an offensive zone turnover led to the final dagger.
