Philadelphia Flyers Considering Davis Payne as Head Coach

According to reports, the Philadelphia Flyers are considering Davis Payne for their head coach of the 2015-2016 season. Payne has served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings for the past three seasons. Before becoming an assistant coach for the Kings, Payne spent some time as head coach of the St. Louis Blues where he went 67-55-15.

With all of the big-name coaches expected to be available this offseason, this news comes as a bit of surprise. Of course Ron Hextall will be considering all of his options the next month or so; but I cannot see the Flyers hiring guys like Davis Payne while better coaches are still out their for the taking.
