The NHLPA announced dates for player arbitration hearings on Monday, and we now know that the Philadelphia Flyers will head to their hearing with defenseman Michael Del Zotto on Tuesday, July 21.
At the hearing, both sides will present what they believe is a fair contract for the player. Evidence allowed to be used at the hearing includes the players' on-ice performance (obviously), relevant injuries and illnesses, the "special qualities of leadership or public appeal" the player offers, and the salary of comparable players. The team's salary cap position is not admissible as evidence in an arbitration hearing.
