Coming off two back-to-back blowout losses to the Charlotte Checkers, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms are “still alive but they’re barely breathing” when it comes to their 2019 Calder Cup Playoff chances.
At the time this article was written, the Phantoms sit six points back of the Providence Bruins with five games remaining for the fourth and final spot in the Atlantic Division. They also have the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins to jump, needing all the help they can get from the two teams ranked ahead of them. It’s usually not a good sign when you can’t control your own destiny when it comes to making the postseason, but stranger things have happened I guess.
