Just-promoted MacDonald might play for Flyers

Colin MacDonald gives Flyers coach Dave Hakstol an interesting option.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound winger was promoted from the Phantoms on Sunday, and Hakstol, whose team has been pushed around by Washington in the first two games of the opening-round playoff series, could insert him into the lineup for Game 3 on Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers trail the series, two games to none.

Matt Read is among the candidates who could sit. The 5-10, 185-pound. Read is goal-less in his last 18 games, including the first two in the playoffs.

McDonald, 31, was the Phantoms' captain this season, and he had 14 goals in 51 AHL games; he also had a goal in five games with the Flyers earlier this season.
