Many fans were eager to see fast-rising defenseman Phil Myers at the Flyers' development camp in Voorhees.
But Myers, a 6-foot-5, 208-pounder, will not participate because he is recovering from hip surgery, Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said.
Camp will start Thursday morning and include 34 Flyers prospects.
Myers, coming off an outstanding year with Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, should be ready for the start of the 2016-17 season. The big defenseman was injured in the Memorial Cup semifinals -- and was hobbling as he then suffered a knee-to-knee hit in the title game, a 3-2 overtime loss to the Ontario Hockey League-champion London Knights.
