Hakstol flew to Europe for dinner with Voracek

New Flyers coach Dave Hakstol has been making his rounds, trying to get to know his new team ever since taking his first professional coaching job.

The former University of North Dakota coach has spoken to a lot of players this offseason, some of them he met in person, some he spoke to on the phone.

His first introduction with right winger Jakub Voracek, who received an eight-year, $66 million contract extension Thursday evening, was via phone.

But then Hakstol went the extra mile… or the extra 4,000 miles.

“I talked to him over the phone and he told me that he would like to see me in the middle of June,” Voracek said Thursday on a media conference call.
