Shayne Gostisbehere could become the first Calder Trophy winner in Flyers history when the NHL announces its award winners Wednesday in Las Vegas.
The defenseman is one three finalists for the Calder, awarded to the NHL's top rookie. Chicago left winger Artemi Panarin, who is favored to win the award, and Edmonton center Connor McDavid are the other finalists.
When Gostisbehere was nominated for the award, he called it an honor and added he "didn't expect to be where I am right now. It's a compliment to my teammates, and the coaches and front office for believing in me all the way.
