Former Flyers player Todd Fedoruk, a career enforcer, spent nine years in the NHL. He also suffered from substance abuse, a concept brought back into the spotlight among professional athletes recently after Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia chose to enter rehab in lieu of joining his team in the playoffs.
In an interview with TSN, Fedoruk said he would often get away with things because he was a hockey player, with particular help from the police:
"A normal person wouldn't be able to get away with the stuff we do. I got away with stuff because I was a hockey player.
